About the recordings
Belly Landing is a recording project started (roughly) on july 14, 2008. I’m attempting an audio experiment whence I record something a few times a week for a year. Music, soundscapes, and general errata. My point is to record quickly, making audio an audio sketch of the day around me. These are not professional studio recordings, but controlled sonic accidents;
Sometimes we hit the ground and skid, and the slides deploy.
My parameters are thus:
1) Recordings will be at least 1 minute, 08 seconds in length. A nice, round, arbitrary number.
2) All material will incorporate some external audio recorded by me in the past 24 hours. I have a handy and sleek Olympus ws-110 for field recording that I’ll be using, although I’m not above sticking a mic out my window when I’m not in the mood.
3) Much of the material will incorporate some sort of vocal element. I’m extremely fickle about vocals in music, and I’m trying to understand better the connection I feel to certain voices and words/lyrics.
4) I’m imposing a 2 hour time limit on myself to complete the tracks. I can’t do this all day, ya know.
5) I’m taking Sunday’s off.
